Turka Daal with Coriander

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups of lentils
  • Water
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 green chilli

Tarka Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 25g butter
  • 1/2 close garlic
  • 1 Tbsp whole black cumin
  • Coriander leaves

Method

  1. Wash lentils until the water runs clear
  2. Put lentils in a saucepan and fill with 2x more water for each cup of lentils
  3. Add all spices and simmer once the water has boiled
  4. Meanwhile, in a frying pan, add the onions, oil, garlic and fry until brown
  5. When coloured, turn off the heat and add the cumin seeds
  6. The daal in the pot should have enlarged and soaked up most of the water. Turn the heat off.
  7. Once the onions have cooled, add to the daal. Stir and add the garam masala and coriander to garnish
  8. Enjoy with a Beer!
