Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- 3 Tbsp cider vinegar
- 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce (or Henderson’s if in Yorkshire!)
- 2 finely chopped chipotles in adobo sauce (Or 1.5 tsps ‘Tesco Ingredients Chipotle chilli and Smoked Paprika paste’ works as well – and is easier to get!)
- 1 tsps garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Method
- Heat the olive oil over a medium heat. Add in onions and garlic. Cook for about 3 minutes until onions are translucent.
- Add the garlic and saute another 2 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients (chipotles , ketchup, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, chilli powder, ground mustard, pepper, and salt). Cover pot and let simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.
- Check seasonings and make any adjustments to your taste
- Enjoy with anything you like with BBQ sauce!
